Underground/After School Program

Open Art Studio is back! Thanks to the Acadia Family Center and art therapist Hilary Chermak, the Underground can once again offer students the opportunity to freely engage with a variety of creative mediums and design techniques. As before, the Open Art Studio will meet on Mondays from 3:30 - 5:00 in the Community Room at Harbor House. The program is absolutely free and open to all students in grades three through eight. If your child hasn't yet taken advantage of this wonderful opportunity, now is the time to come on over and see what's new!

As the weather is getting nicer, more children are taking advantage of the playground after school. This is great to see, but why not encourage your child to take it a step further and join us on Tuesday afternoons for the Outdoor Adventure Kids (OAK) program? Each week Underground director Mark Woida takes a group to local hot spots in Acadia for exploration, spontaneous games, and jun plain running around and having fun. This month we'll take advantage of the warmer weather to head up Flying Mountain, and later in the month we'll get to the top of Beech Mountain as well. Trips leave the Underground by 3:30 and return by 5:00. The more the merrier!
